Stuart R. Erlenbush, a retired Illinois State Police Officer,
traveled to Israel from
November 3rd to
November 11th, 2006 with Security Systems
International, a Miami based training company. The
purpose of the trip was to study the security
measures used by the Israelis to counter the threat
of terrorism on a daily basis. While there, he
conferred with top experts from the Israeli Defense
Forces (Military), Israeli Police, and the Shin Bet
(Israeli CIA). The SSI group consisted of police
officers and security personnel from across the
United States. They were granted access to
sensitive installations and provided in-depth
briefings regarding each site’s security.

In all security
venues, the Israelis employ Circles of Security,
a multi-layered approach to protecting their
seaports, power plants, airports, malls, government
buildings, hotels, restaurants, military
installations, national landmarks, and religious
sites.
